and we need them.

 

The Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation exists to support nonprofit organizations in Oregon and Washington. For more than twenty years, we have been awarding funds to organizations that address education, mentorship, the arts, creativity, health, and well-being. Many young people like you have indirectly received support from us, but we know we can do more. That’s where you come in!

  • The Youth Advisory Board is a team of 6-8 youth volunteers from the Portland Metro area that meet each month to share their experience, study relevant social issues, and ultimately support a funding recommendation of more than $25,000 to our Board of Trustees.

  • You work with your fellow Board volunteers to identify problems that impact you and your peers. Then, with help from Marie Lamfrom staff, you meet with nonprofits who are addressing your issues. You’ll interview them, evaluate their effectiveness, and together, recommend who should receive $25,000.

  • First, this is a volunteer position with two available stipends of $500 each. Through your volunteer role, you would be asked to serve for 5-7 hours each month, including: meeting monthly, conducting independent research, and participating in two full-group retreats (once in the summer, then again in the fall). Lastly, you’ll be required to present to our Board of Trustees in Spring 2023.

  • If you are a Portland-area incoming eighth-grader, freshman, sophomore, or junior in high school who is passionate about helping your community, committed to learning, reliable (and able to really commit to this position) then you are probably a great fit!
