— Introducing Our 2022 Honorees —

Scroll down to meet our seven extraordinary honorees!

“Our family started the Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation in my grandmother’s honor because she was an amazing person. As a teenager, she served as a nurse in World War I. Then, decades later, as Hitler rose to power, she and my grandfather, Paul, fled Nazi Germany with the rest of her family. She quickly became a champion for young people, especially hospitalized children, and proved herself as a skilled businesswoman. She worked hard and tirelessly for her family and for her community — she had grit. That’s how we will remember her on her 126th birthday. Happy Birthday, Grandma!”

— celebrating grit

Marie Lamfrom had grit. She wasn’t afraid to do the hard and necessary thing, no matter how scary or tedious it might be. Having grit isn’t about working too much or pulling yourself up, it’s about surrendering one’s ego to do the job that needs to get done, and doing it for the benefit of others.

This year among 175+ unique nominees — we’re proud to acknowledge seven honorees who not only demonstrate grit in their daily work, but in doing so, remind us of Marie. To celebrate them and their service to our community, we’re proud to award funding in their honor to the organization with which they served.

As this would have been Marie Lamfrom’s 126th birthday, $126,000 will be distributed between each of the organizations with which the honoree is affiliated. Congratulations!
